Old posts from October go here
Version of this page: 10
Finished my migration todo list.
Also added three snippets for version, bytes, and words_stripped (number of bytes and words with html tags stripped from the body - useful for a long page i'm writing) Version is a count of how many times I've hit submit in the edit window for the particular page with the snippet. It's fast to edit a page on cms3 so I run up the count. I do have to go into the database (pending an /api extension to clean up) to remove not active pages.
I try to keep these webpages more or less technical in nature, not including pics of the dog or stories etc.
Sadly though, yesterday I woke from a short nap to find a post from my ex-kid-sis-in-law about my youngest son. I saw a bunch of calls in messenger I'd missed and grabbed a phone to call them back. My youngest son, Andrew, was found dead in his cell the morning of 25 Oct of an apparent suicide. He'd 'allegedly' been taken off suicide watch the night before.
My son had been awaiting trial and the judicial appearance of mental competency for nearly 3 years. Not the least funny how they treat veterans anymore, not at all. RIP Andrew Joseph Smith-Hartfield (Feb 16 1990 - Oct 25 2018) ex Navy Corpsman, served in Afghanistan and was stationed at Camp Pendleton CA where he met his wife of 9 years. Two children, a daughter aged 4 and a son aged 8 (as of Nov 1).

Switched off ipv6 - doesn't help to have the IP stored for a page as ipv4 and can't edit it when it switches to ipv6
Need to move perl-user.com onto cms3... better versioning, no ?delete function... yet.
Didn't want to forget to read this, but clearing out email, so...
Guess complaining about G+ going away tempted karma in some way cuz yesterday, some GDSFBFMF did something that got my free domain, userconfig.cf, suspended. I won't ever use dot.tk for domains again, free or otherwise. No explanation, no warning, no notice, just gone. Ok bye.
Took me a good 2-3 minutes to switch the domain to cms.perl-user.com instead. It's just an integer field in the pages table after all. All of the pages work just fine under a 3rd level domain that I control too. I did clean up all my unicode test pages (and pages with unicode in the path portion) since I need to dump the real pages and wipe everything out to rename the database and database user there too. I guess I could just do a copy using postgres user... will have to see. Tomorrow =)
Pushed a big update of v3.1 of cms3 to github.com:/kordaff/cms3 today. No more userconfig for the database name or user anymore either. Scrubbed it out every where it existed, except a single note in README.md. No big. Domain names are very easy to get and recycle. They don't really matter, other than to get an IP an easy to remember name.
Thinking of renaming cms3 to kords-cms3...
use MyApache2::kords-cms3;That is not too long.

Think I have found all the bugs with re: Unicode in paths and in pages. Everything I've tested now has worked. Need to double verify that error messages logged in and logged out show right bits too.
Nope! One last bug: Must be logged in to create page /%E2%92%BE%E2%93%A3 on cms3.perl-user.com When I logged out and tried to do http://cms3.perl-user.com/Ⓘⓣ?edit
create_page had same bug.
And one more, in /api/show_env when the query string had unicode characters. Fixed all three spots.

I feel incredibly hurt and betrayed by Google's decision to abandon G+
Maybe they got hacked, it does seem to happen to everyone. Everyone codes gud, just like me?
Frankly though, Google is now dead to me. Downloaded all my pics from photos.google.com and cleared out my g+ profile of any/all info. Removing my author tags pointing to plus.google as I find pages with them. I have 100's of pages to edit on brb, the free domain which is home of the 1st iteration of my cms: Posted.pm (unpublished/non-open-sourced) running on a little webserver named xmas.mooo.com (chat is on :8009 there)
Remember this: for fancy text like on minds.com or pscp.tv to paste in the unicode characters, like 𝚖𝚘𝚗𝚘𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚌𝚎 or 𝒽𝒶𝓃𝒹𝓌𝓇𝒾𝓉𝒾𝓃𝑔 or 🅑🅤🅑🅑🅛🅔🅢 or 𝕕𝕠𝕦𝕓𝕝𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕦𝕔𝕜. That page also gives you the choice of using characters for sites that don't let you do 𝐁𝐎𝐋𝐃 𝐓𝐄𝐗𝐓 or 𝘽𝙊𝙇𝘿 𝙄𝙏𝘼𝙇𝙄𝘾𝙎 in HTML like minds.com
Excessive database normalization and subsequent code fixes to make ?edit /api/login /api/logout etc work again.
Committed recent changes to github (3 weeks worth)
Added in subroutines for snippets and code for 4 snippets. Now i have an allpages snippet on http://cms3.perl-user.com/xx
Updating to kernel-4.18.11
